Scarborough Clashes With Panel Over Obama?s ?Permanent Campaign?: He?s ?Going To Destroy? The GOP

Joe Scarborough was bluntly critical of President Obama this morning ? pointing to his ?permanent campaign? and goal of destroying the Republican Party, while simultaneously not leading on our economic problems. Some of his panelists, including co-host Mika Brzezinski, however, weren?t quite buying that line of argument.

If the president stops permanently campaigning and ?demagoguing,? Scarborough said, he may actually make decisions that will upset his base. But he needs to be responsible. Al Sharpton countered that, for all the criticism, Obama does have a plan. With sequestration looming, Republicans are ?going where no one thought they would ever go, including at the risk of national security.?

But Republicans agreed to raise taxes, which they haven?t done in a quarter century, Scarborough argued. ?I would love for him to show some leadership on this instead of just taking cheap political shots.?

?He?s going to destroy the Republican Party, and that?s his decision,? he added. If he were interested in coming to the table instead, perhaps we wouldn?t be dealing with another crisis.

?That?s like looking at a burning building and saying, ?I?m going to light a match and burn that building down,?? Brzezinski said. ?The Republican Party is definitely responsible for their problems at this point.?

And the Republicans will take the blame, she added, if sequestration goes into effect. Nope, Scarborough asserted. This is on the president.
