AP sources: Saints, Payton, agree to terms on deal

NEW ORLEANS (AP) ? The New Orleans Saints and suspended coach Sean Payton will indeed be together again next season as the bounty scandal fades into history and the bid to win a second Super Bowl resumes.

Payton has agreed in principle to a multiyear contract extension, according to two people familiar with the deal.

The people told The Associated Press about the deal Friday night on condition of anonymity because it hasn't been signed and final details regarding the length of the contract and financial compensation are still being worked out.

"Very happy it is official," Brees said in an email to the AP. "Never had any doubts."

Payton was due to begin his seventh season as the Saints' head coach in 2012 before being suspended for the whole season by NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell in connection with the NFL's bounty investigation.

Payton signed an extension in 2011 that would have kept him in New Orleans through 2015, but Goodell objected to certain language in that deal, leaving Payton's future uncertain until the deal was reached Friday. The language in question in the previous extension gave Payton the right to opt out early if general manager Mickey Loomis left the club for any reason.

The new agreement, which was first reported by Fox Sports, also must be approved by the NFL.

Payton is the only coach in Saints history to win a Super Bowl, a title earned at the end of the 2009 season. But his legacy was tarnished by the NFL's bounty probe, as Goodell ruled that Payton failed to exert proper institutional control over a cash-for-hits bounty program run by former defensive coordinator Gregg Williams from 2009-2011.

Although the Saints objected to the characterization of what coaches and players have said was nothing more than a performance pool for big plays, Goodell suspended Payton for the entire season. The commissioner also suspended Loomis for half of the season and assistant head coach Joe Vitt for six games.

Payton is 62-34 as in regular-season games as Saints head coach and 5-3 in the postseason. During the three seasons before his suspension, the Saints won 41 regular-season and playoff games combined, more than any other team in the NFL.

Payton has primarily handled the offense in New Orleans, teaming up with Brees to break numerous NFL and club records. The single-season NFL records set by the Saints in 2011 included yards passing by a team (5,505) and a quarterback (5,476). The Saints also set a record for total offensive yards with 7,474.

Although speculation ran rampant that Payton could essentially become a free agent after this season and end up elsewhere, Brees repeatedly said he would be "shocked" if Payton ended up anywhere but New Orleans next season. Brees is under contract with the Saints through the 2016 season, and Payton was the driving force in the Saints' effort to acquire Brees as a free agent in 2006.

Without Payton on the sideline this season, the Saints missed the playoffs for the first time since 2008. Brees remained prolific, but his 18 interceptions also tied for a league high heading into the final weekend of the season.

The Saints headed into Sunday's season finale against Carolina at 7-8, hoping to avoid their first losing season since they went 7-9 in 2007.

Payton is expected to return to the Saints immediately after the Super Bowl on Feb. 3, unless Goodell allows him to return earlier.

When Payton reports back to work, it will offically close the book on the bounty saga that has overshadowed the Saints' organization since the NFL first announced on March 2 that it found the Saints ran a program that paid improper cash bonuses for hits that injured opponents.

In addition to the suspensions of Payton, Loomis and Vitt, the Saints also were docked second-round draft choices in 2012 and 2013, though Goodell has said he could potentially restores the Saints' 2013 second-round choice and dock the team a later-round pick.

Meanwhile, four current or former Saints were initially given suspensions of varying lengths. Two current Saints defensive captains, linebacker Jon Vilma and defensive end Will Smith, were among those suspended. Vilma was banned for the whole season and Smith for four games, but the players successfully challenged their punishment with the help of the NFL Players Association and never served a game.

Former Commissioner Paul Tagliabue, who was appointed by Goodell to oversee the players' appeals, ruled that the NFL probe was accurate in its findings that the Saints ran and improper program and attempted to cover it up, but that the evidence was not strong enough to warrant unprecedented suspensions for players who had been only fined for similar behavior in the past.

Syracuse Plows West Virginia, 38-14, In Snowy 2012 Pinstripe Bowl (VIDEO/PHOTOS)

NEW YORK ? The weather made passing at the Pinstripe Bowl perilous, so Syracuse sent Prince-Tyson Gulley and Jerome Smith dashing through West Virginia and the snow.

Gulley ran for a career-best 208 yards and had three touchdowns, Smith added 157 yards, and the Orange bid a blustery farewell to the Big East with a 38-14 victory Saturday.

Syracuse (8-5) will enter the Atlantic Coast Conference on a roll after finishing this season with six wins in its last seven games, capped by its second postseason victory at Yankee Stadium in the last three years.

In a bowl played in a baseball stadium, with weather more suited for a playoff game in Green Bay, the team that plays in a dome ended up being better equipped to handle the elements.

"The football Gods brought snow," said Smith, who carried a season-high 30 times. "The football Gods from Syracuse brought us some snow and it changed even West Virginia's game. They had to run a little bit more than they were used to. We ran the ball a little bit more than we're used to and did what we were supposed to do."

Syracuse finished with a season-high 369 yards on the ground and beat its former Big East rival from West Virginia, now playing in the Big 12, for a third straight time.

"They just did a better job than us at the line of scrimmage," Mountaineers coach Dana Holgorsen said. "To be in a game like this when you've got to rely on your run defense to help you win and you're not able to do it, it's frustrating."

Geno Smith connected with Stedman Bailey for two touchdown passes for West Virginia (7-6), but the Mountaineers' quarterback also was sacked in the end zone in the first half and called for intentional grounding in the end zone in the third quarter to give Syracuse a second safety.

Smith, who was an early Heisman Trophy front-runner as the Mountaineers got off to a 5-0 start this season, was 16 for 26 for 197 yards in the final game of his record-breaking career. The NFL awaits.

Same goes for Ryan Nassib, though Syracuse didn't ask much of its talented senior quarterback. He threw two touchdown passes and an interception. His most impressive feat on this day was surviving being driven into the cold turf by Terence Garvin on a sack in the first half. Nassib missed only one play.

"It's my last game, man, nothing's going to take me out," he said.

Especially against a West Virginia team the Orange felt didn't give them much credit after two straight victories over the Mountaineers.

"It was about us going out there and getting respect," tackle Justin Pugh said. "They didn't give us any respect. We kind of said three strikes you're out. Beat them three straight times, so they really can't say anything now."

Snow fell just about all game, giving most of the field a white dusting. Fans were bundled and players not in the game tried to do the same. It took a while for those potent offenses ? both ranked in the top 25 nationally in yards per game ? to heat up, which seemed appropriate considering the conditions.

"Cold. Cold," said Jerome Smith, a junior from Delaware. "I never got a chance to play in the snow, but it was good."

His running mate from Akron, Ohio, had just a bit more experience playing in wintry weather.

"In pee-wees I played in some (snow) like this but not in high school," said Gulley, who carried 25 times. "It was fun."

A goal-line stand by West Virginia in the second quarter kept Syracuse out of the end zone, but set up the Orange for a scoring run.

Left at the 1, the Mountaineers tried to pass out of their end zone, but Geno Smith was smothered by blitzing linebackers Cameron Lynch and Siriki Diabate to make it 5-0 ? a baseball score, of course.

The Orange followed that up with a 33-yard touchdown run by Gulley to make it 12-0 with 6:07 left in the second.

The Mountaineers responded with their first sustained drive. Bailey took a quick pass, darted and broke tackles, and scooted 32 yards to the end zone to make it 12-7.

The Orange extended the lead to 12 to start the second half when they caught a break ? and a touchdown pass. Nassib's throw was tipped around the goal line, but floated safely into the waiting arms of intended receiver Beckett Wales for a 10-yard score.

West Virginia appeared to answer with a touchdown of its own. Andrew Buie broke free for a 28-yard TD run on fourth-and-2. Not so fast. A holding call on the Mountaineers wiped out the play and sent Holgorsen on to the field screaming at the officials.

It didn't help. Instead of a touchdown, a punt.

Holgorsen had nothing to say about the call and was more disappointed with how his team responded.

"We did a poor job of continuing to play. A poor job of overcoming some things," he said.

Moments later another close call, this time on a fumble by Geno Smith which was reviewed to determine if it was an incomplete pass, went Syracuse's way, and again the Orange capitalized.

On the next play, Gulley broke through the line, bounced to the outside and went 67 yards for a touchdown to make it 26-7 with 6:52 left in the third.

West Virginia wouldn't let Syracuse pull away. Smith found Bailey deep down the sideline, beating one-on-one coverage for a 29-yard score 1:11 later.

Back came the Orange, nine plays, 70 yards, with Gulley taking a swing pass from Nassib 10 yards to make it 33-14.

From there the 60th meeting between these teams, but first in a bowl, was a romp in the snow for Syracuse.

Life Insurance - MS Estate Planning

Of course long term care expenses are just another form of living expense and the cash value build up in some permanent life insurance contracts could also be used to pay long term care costs, even without the long term care rider.

Because in each case, benefits (or cash) are being paid out in advance of the death of the insured, the advancement for long term care costs will have an impact on the death benefit ultimately received by your heirs. ?In some cases, the death benefit may be entirely gone. ?In others the death benefit may be greatly reduced.

Gmail phone calls remain free of charge in 2013 for US and Canada

Gmail phone calls remain free of charge in 2013 for US and Canada

It may be an expected holiday gift, but it's still a nice one: Google's VoIP service in Gmail will remain free of charge for calls within the United States and Canada in 2013. A note on the Gmail Blog announced as much today; the news ushers in a thrilling third year of free Google Voice service for US and Canadian customers, right through the standard Gmail interface. Of course, we prefer the retro-inspired phone booth that Google showed off back in 2010 when the service was first announced, but free is free. Now, what to get for the megacorporation that has everything. We're thinking ... Furby? Probably a Furby.

Holiday travelers stranded as weather heads east

As tornadoes ripped through the South, more than a foot of snow was dumped over parts of the Midwest, making for a post-Christmas travel nightmare. NBC's Mike Seidel reports.

By Tracy Connor, NBC News

A wicked winter storm was sweeping east across the United States Wednesday, creating a post-holiday travel nightmare with more than a foot of snow in some places and thousands of flights canceled or delayed.

"Blizzard warnings stretch for?730 continuous miles?due to Winter Storm Euclid,"?The Weather Channel?s?Tom Niziol reported.

The white-out came a day after a Christmas storm unleashed heavy snow, deadly winds and even some tornadoes on the nation?s midsection, killing at least three people.

As millions of Americans braced for snow, rain, ice or more twisters, nearly 2,000 flights had been canceled and 10,000 were delayed, many at Dallas/Fort Worth, Philadelphia International, and Cleveland's Hopkins International, according to the travel website FllightStats.com. American Airlines had to cancel 500 flights, while Delta scrapped 200.?

The forecast called for heavy snow from Indiana to New York and by mid-afternoon it was piling up: The National Weather Service reported 14.5 inches in Marion, Ill.; 11.8 inches in Bloomfield, Ind.; 9 inches in Brookville, Ohio; 7 inches in Bardwell, Ky.; and Frostburg, Md. Up to 3 inches of rain had fallen in North and South Carolina.

After the storm socked little Albion, Ill., with 18 inches of snow, city worker Renee Galen?s SUV got stuck and she got to her office the only way she could.

On one of the busiest travel days of the year, bad weather has forced airlines to cancel or delay flights. NBC's Katy Tur reports.

"One of the city guys came by with a snowplow and I flagged him down and rode to work with him," Galen told NBC News.

"I had to get to work because today was the last day to file for city elections. Believe it or not, I?ve had three people come in to file."

In Indianapolis, seven inches of snow fell in three hours Wednesday morning, bringing post-Christmas shopping to a halt, the Indianapolis Star reported.?

Stephen Canter, 44, ventured out before 8 a.m., and the roads were thick with snow when he headed back 30 minutes later.

"By the time I got home, the street was covered," he told the newspaper. "I don't remember snow like this since Valentine's Day of 2007."

Indiana State Police received 100 calls of crashes or cars sliding off roads before noon and warned motorists that if they got into trouble it could take a while to get them help, NBC affiliate WTHR.com reported.?

Cars and several 18-wheelers were stuck in the ice along 1-70, and the snow fell faster than crews could clear the roads.

"The biggest problem is the blowing. We got some high winds and the roads are really beginning to drift bad," Ron Sharp with Wayne County Emergency Management told the station.

Parts of New York, Ohio and Pennsylvania are also forecast to get hit with more than a foot of snow, and New England could get up to a foot.

The blizzard warning in Ohio prompted United Airlines to cancel at least 60 percent of their flights at?Cleveland?Hopkins Airport beginning at noon on Wednesday, according to?NBC affiliate WKYC.com. About 1,000 people spent the night on cots at Dallas/Fort Worth after their Tuesday night and Wednesday morning flights were scrapped.

Hundreds of flights delayed, canceled as holiday storms travel across country

With Rochester, N.Y., slated to get up to a foot of snow, hordes of worried residents descended on the hardware stores.

?Un-freaking-believable! We?ve sold 225 shovels since 9 o?clock this morning,? said Tom Green, owner of Mayer Paint and Hardware. ?Rock salt ? I couldn?t tell you how many thousands of pounds I?ve sold today. People are very concerned.?

Green noted that snowstorms are hardly rare in Rochester.

?But this is the first big one,? he said. ?And it?s happening at Christmas.?

The weather system, which started over the weekend, wreaked havoc on Christmas. It knocked out power to tens of thousands of people and was blamed for at least five deaths.

In Enola, Ark., two toddlers were killed when a car lost control on an ice-slicked highway and spun into oncoming traffic, state police said.

Wind-toppled trees killed a pickup truck driver near Houston, Texas, and a 53-year-old man in north Louisiana. NBC affiliate KJRH reported?that?a 28-year-old woman was killed in a crash on a snowy highway near Fairview, Okla.

Christmas Day tornadoes ?- the preliminary count was at least 21, according to the Weather Channel -- battered Southern states.?And Little Rock, Ark., didn?t just have a rare white Christmas ?- it had its snowiest day ever, with nine inches on the ground.

The storms contributed to a 21-vehicle pile-up Tuesday that shut down a major highway in Oklahoma City, as well as tens of thousands of power outages. Emergency service provider MedStar told?NBCDFW.com?it responded to 71?crashes in the Fort Worth area between 5 p.m. and 9:50 p.m. Tuesday evening.

As it tracked east, authorities were taking the storm seriously.

In Indianapolis, Mayor Greg Ballard ordered "non-essential" workers to stay home and off roads. Cleveland asked businesses to send workers home by 1:30 p.m., NBC affiliate WKYC.com reported.?Homeowners in coastal Long Island, ravaged by Superstorm Sandy in October, were told to take precautions to prevent flooding with seas expected to peak at 15 feet, NBCNewYork.com reported.

By the time it leaves the New England coast Friday, the storm will have left snow from coast to coast ?- and there could be another wallop coming soon.

Weather Channel meteorologist Guy Walton said a weather pattern with the potential to become Winter Storm Freyr is poised to enter the West Coast on Wednesday and move through the Rockies on Thursday. It could then head for the lower Mississippi Valley, then the Southeast and hit the Northeast on Sunday.

Winthrop coach pleas for action after shooting

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) ? Moments after his team lost a basketball game, Winthrop coach Pat Kelsey spoke of a bigger loss.

The first-year coach of the Eagles gave an impassioned plea for government and private leaders to act soon to prevent further massacres such as the one at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn., last week that left 20 children and six adults dead at the school.

"The last thing I want to say is I'm really, really lucky, because I'm going to get on an eight-hour bus ride, and I'm going to arrive in Rock Hill, South Carolina, and I'm going to walk into my house, and I'm going to walk upstairs, and I'm going to walk into two pink rooms with a 5-year-old and a 4-year-old laying in that pink room, with a bunch of teddy bears laying in that room," he said, concluding his remarks in the wake of a 65-55 loss at No. 7 Ohio State.

"And I'm going to give them the biggest hug and the biggest kiss I've ever given them. And there's 20 families in Newtown, Conn., that are walking into a pink room with a bunch of teddy bears with nobody laying in those beds. And it's tragic."

Kelsey said he wanted to take advantage of the opportunity, as a small, mid-major college coach, to reach a large audience with his emotional words.

"I know this microphone's powerful right now, because we're playing the (seventh)-best team in the country," he said. "I'm not going to have a microphone like this the rest of the year, maybe the rest of my life."

He said he didn't have a solution. But that didn't mean others shouldn't pursue one ? and quickly.

"I don't know what needs to be done. I'm not smart enough to know what needs to be done, OK?" he said. "I know this country's got issues. Is it a gun issue? Is it a mental illness issue? Or is it a society that has lost the fact, the understanding, that decent human values are important?"

Kelsey called on political leaders to get past petty differences and accomplish something.

"I didn't vote for President Obama. But you know what? He's my president now. He's my leader. I need him to step up," he said. "Mr. (John) Boehner, the Speaker of the House ... OK, he needs to step up."

He also called for others to get involved and prevent a reoccurrence of the tragedy.

"Parents, teachers, rabbis, priests, coaches ? everybody needs to step up. This has to be a time for change," he said. "And I'm going to be an agent of change with the 13 young men I get to coach every day and the two little girls that I get to raise. But hopefully things start changing, because it's really, really disappointing."

His voice rising, and with his eyes welling, he finished by saying, "I'm proud to grow up American. I'm proud to say I'm part of the greatest country ever. And that's got to stay that way. And it'll stay that way if we change.

"But we've got to change."

Canada?s Hadfield blasts off for 5-month space station visit

BAIKONUR, Kazakhstan ? Chris Hadfield has successfully blasted off from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan on a mission that is to see him become the first Canadian to command the International Space Station.

Hadfield is travelling to the space station on board a Russian Soyuz capsule for a five-month visit to the giant orbiting space lab.

He is sharing the trip to the space station with NASA astronaut Tom Marshburn and Russian cosmonaut Roman Romanenko.

During his stay, the 53-year-old space veteran, an avid guitar player, plans to do some strumming to help him deal with homesickness.

He will also be involved with more than 130 experiments including Micro-flow, a Canadian blood-sampling experiment which he compared to a hospital in a box.

During the second half of his mission, Hadfield will become the first Canadian to command the space station.

This is Hadfield?s third space journey.

His first space trip was in November 1995 when he visited the Russian Space Station Mir. His second voyage was a visit to the International Space Station in April 2001, when he also performed two space walks.

Marc Garneau, who was the first Canadian to shuttle into outer space, said he?s proud of Hadfield?s accomplishments and wished him well.

?This is a first,? he said Tuesday. ?The first (Canadian) commander of the International Space Station.?

?That?s an incredible accomplishment. He?s an incredible guy.?

Garneau admits he?d like to be in space again.

?I?d love it, it?s fun,? he told The Canadian Press.

Garneau has moved on to more earthly challenges. The Liberal member of Parliament is running to become the federal party?s next leader.

Today?s launch was from Russia?s manned space facility in the freezing steppes of Kazakhstan, where temperatures were at minus 30 degrees Celcius earlier this week.

Gov. Gen. David Johnston joined other officials at the Canadian Space Agency south of Montreal today to watch Hadfield blast off.

This morning?s launch marked a return to use of the launch pad known as Gagarin?s Start, where Soviet astronaut Yuri Gagarin blasted off in 1961 for the first human orbital space flight. Another launch site was used for the previous mission, which set off in October.

The Soyuz craft Hadfield and his colleagues are travelling on is a variation on the vehicle that has been in constant use by the Soviet and then Russian manned space programs since 1967.

With the decommissioning of the U.S. shuttle fleet, the Soyuz is now the only vehicle able to carry astronauts to the space station.

Home automation solutions to facilitate control and safety of intensive livestock farms

Home automation solutions to facilitate control and safety of intensive livestock farms [ Back to EurekAlert! ] Public release date: 19-Dec-2012

A pilot study has now been set up in the Navarrese locality of Oscoz

This press release is available in Spanish.

To transfer home automation systems to intensive livestock farms and thus improve their control/monitoring and safety/security. That is the aim of the project entitled "High availability teleservice centre for intensive livestock farms based on home automation and telecommunications solutions" started three years ago and which, funded by the Government of Navarre, has been turned into reality with a pilot study set up on a farm in Oscoz. The engineers from the UPNA-Public University of Navarre Ignacio Matas, Eduardo Jaunsaras and Juan Manuel Galindo have been commissioned to design the system and adapt it to the needs and requirements of different farms.

As Ignacio Matas-Maestro, Professor of Electronics Technology, pointed out: "We have opted to use mobile technology for managing it as well, so that over the Internet or through a telephone application the farmer can monitor/control the farm completely." Specifically, the UPNA engineers have adapted home automation systems to the requirements of intensive farms of different animals: sheep, cows, rabbits, hens, etc. "In the home, what takes precedence are the amenities, while on a livestock farm the essential aspect is the security/safety and control/monitoring of the animals," explains Eduardo Jaunsaras Munarriz, industrial engineer and main collaborator in the project. "The critical parameters are established by each user because each farm is different: on a poultry farm temperature control is crucial for egg laying, while on others, for example, the accumulation of gases has to be monitored because that can cause asphyxia and kill all the animals."

The design of the installation includes two types of devices: location of sensors to detect the variables, and actuators to determine which action is carried out. For example, if there is a fault or variation in the system, the sensors would detect it and the actuators would execute the actions determined in advance by the user: open the windows, turn off the gas, discontinue the supply of water, increase the temperature, etc. "Once the alarm has gone off," points out Ignacio Matas, "the farmer will decide what action he/she wants taken. Technically speaking, everything is possible: doors and windows can be opened, the temperature can be raised or lowered, etc."

Control using the mobile phone

The system can be controlled over the Internet or through an application that the farmer can download onto his/her mobile phone. Webcams have been installed on the farm, so he/she can see what is being recorded by the cameras. What is more, it is possible to access all the information gathered by the sensors (temperature, humidity, gas, etc.) and action can be taken, for example, to turn up the heating if the temperature is too low. It is also possible to programme alerts, an alert sent to a mobile phone if there is any abnormal situation; for example, if the presence of people is detected in unauthorised places, if the range of humidity on the premises rises above the previously established limits, etc.

"The important thing is that farmers know that this technology exists, that it can be applied and adapted to each farm, that they can go away on holiday for a few days knowing that the area is being monitored/controlled and, should something happen, they are going to be able to act quickly," say the engineers.

In this respect, they explain that working on this project "has provided us with knowledge, so that we can get to know the needs of a collective that we knew nothing about. For example, we did not know that there are different requirements for a cattle farm, depending on whether the cows are for producing meat or milk. We didn't know either that a fault in a farm's installation can cause the death of all the chickens; they are fairly frequent cases which are not always covered by insurance or turn out to be very costly, and they are faults that can be prevented by using the new technology."

The project has involved various players: the UAGN, the Trade Union of Farmers and Stockbreeders of Navarre, and INTIA, the Navarrese Institute of Agri-food Technologies and Infrastructure, have contributed their knowledge of the sector and established what parameters are important on each kind of farm; the companies Ingeniera Domtica and EGA Informtica handle the installation and computer control, respectively. "We," points out Eduardo Jaunsaras "handle the design of the installation. After that, the companies undertake to install and market the product that has been developed."

Right now, the system is functioning in Oscoz where INTIA has an Artificial Insemination Centre in which they mostly breed pigs and rabbits. Among the differences the engineers have found when it comes to adapting the system to farms is the location of the surveillance webcams, which are not used in homes; the complexity of the installation, which in private homes can be handled by an electrician; and the fact that the sensors, which are exposed to the elements, are different and need special protection.

Ignacio Matias points out, "It is about innovating: about using what exists already and applying it to a new environment, like that of farms." Apart from that, the unusual feature is that "the control/monitoring systems existing until now are closed ones where there is no scope for action. The farmer, for example, cannot say that as his/her farm faces south, it needs this but not that, this is an individualisation aspect that we do in fact tackle in this project."

[How-To] How to get Your battle pets to 25 quick! Requires the use ...

Battle Pets Quickest Way To 25

Requirements: 2 personal accounts, or the help of a friends account.

Helpful tips: Being able to login them both into your own computer. So you can have them windowed and que them faster.

Make sure both are on the same server, this worked for me on Kel'thuzad

Steps:

Step 1. On both accounts make sure all three pets are level 1.

Step 2. use this macro for both accounts, to quickly que on both screens.

/script C_PetBattles.StartPVPMatchmaking(); Step 3. Monitor both screens to make sure the que pops up the same time for both of you. "to know for sure if you will join same"

Step 4. When you join battle, pick one account, Account A and have him attack, Account B passes. Once account A attacks and hits, Account B Flees from battle.
Doing so will grant, Account A's 1st pet will get XP. if you don't attack first xp will split across all 3 pets, can lvl three at a time, would take longer time.

Step 5. Account A, changed new pet out for the one that just lvled for a lvl 1. Then reque, Repeat step 4 but with Account A fleeing battle. This will let account B get same level as account A's newly lvled pet.

Step 6. Make both account A and B have there desired pets that were lvled and there lvl 1s. Que up and Level away. Will not need to repeat like step 4 and 5 once pets get higher. When the pets are only 1 lvl apart you will still match up.

Things You Need To Know!!

This doesn't always work. This worked for me when ever i would duel login with my brothers accounts. I tried this with X gamers x Pets..didn't want to que us up at same time.

Plus Monitor to make sure you will be in same battle as 2nd account. If not just decline battle and reque. If lucky this method will work wonders for you. Got lvl 25 pet in less then 4hrs.

30 days in jail for Serbia's richest man

BELGRADE, Serbia (AP) ? A judge on Friday ordered the richest man in Serbia to be held in prison for 30 days pending trial on suspicion of corruption, as the government hailed his arrest as proof that no one is above the law in the graft-plagued country.

The arrest of influential billionaire retail tycoon Miroslav Miskovic is part of an anti-corruption sweep that the new nationalist government says is necessary if the country wants to move closer to European Union membership. But critics argue the crackdown is mostly aimed at political opponents and allies of the country's previous pro-Western leadership.

Miskovic, 67, was arrested on Wednesday along with his son Marko and eight others in connection with the privatization of several Serbian road construction companies in 2005, during which the suspects allegedly gained illegal profits of about ?30 million ($39 million).

The judge at Serbia's special court for organized crime ruled that Miskovic, his son and five others must remain in prison during the pre-trial investigation. The rest were freed, with their travel documents seized.

"We are now starting with the investigations," said public prosecutor for organized crime Miljko Radisavljevic. "We will try to collect as much evidence as possible."

Miskovic is the owner of Delta Holding, the largest private company in Serbia, which deals with retail, real estate, insurance and agriculture business throughout the Balkans. Though he is not openly a government opponent he has financed several pro-Western parties that are now in opposition.

He started his business empire under late strongman Slobodan Milosevic in the 1990s, when he also briefly served as deputy prime minister. But after Milosevic fell from power in 2000, Miskovic supported the new, pro-Western authorities and expanded his wealth, estimated in 2007 at some $2 billion (?1.54 billion) and believed to have grown since then.

Alzheimer's biomarkers inhibited in animal model by targeting astrocytes

Dec. 11, 2012 ? A research team composed of University of Kentucky researchers has published a paper which provides the first direct evidence that activated astrocytes could play a harmful role in Alzheimer's disease. The UK Sanders-Brown Center on Aging has also received significant new National Institutes of Health (NIH) funding to further this line of study.

Chris Norris, an associate professor in the UK College of Medicine Department of Molecular and Biomedical Pharmacology, as well as a member of the faculty at the UK Sanders-Brown Center on Aging, is the senior author on a paper published recently in the Journal of Neuroscience.? The first author on the article, Jennifer L. Furman, was a graduate student in the Norris laboratory during completion of the study.

The astrocyte is a very abundant non-neuronal cell type that performs absolutely critical functions for maintaining healthy nervous tissue. However, in neurodegenerative diseases, like Alzheimer's disease, many astrocytes exhibit clear physical changes often referred to as "astrocyte activation." The appearance of activated astrocytes at very early stages of Alzheimer's has led to the idea that astrocytes contribute to the emergence and/or maintenance of other pathological markers of the disease, including synaptic dysfunction, neuroinflammation and accumulation of amyloid plaques.

Using an animal model, researchers directly modulated the activation state of hippocampal astrocytes using a form of gene therapy.

Mice received the gene therapy at a very young age, before the development of extensive amyloid plaque pathology, and were assessed 10 months later on a variety of Alzheimer's biomarkers.

The research team found that inhibition of astrocyte activation blunted the activation of microglia (a cell that mediates neuroinflammation), reduced toxic amyloid levels, improved synaptic function and plasticity, and preserved cognitive function.

Norris and collaborators suggest that similar astrocyte-based approaches could be developed to treat humans suffering from Alzheimer's disease, or possibly other neurodegenerative diseases. This study provides proof of principle that therapeutically targeting astrocytes can be beneficial.

Norris has been named the principal investigator on a new NIH award totaling $1,498,423 over a period of 5 years, to continue this line of research on Alzheimer's disease.

Pope's 'sensitive soul' revealed in children's book about the goldfish he feeds each day

VATICAN CITY - A children's picture book about the goldfish pond at the pope's summer residence reveals a side of him few may know.

Every day while Pope Benedict XVI is on vacation at Castel Gandolfo south of Rome, he feeds the goldfish after praying by a nearby statue of Mary, tossing them pieces of bread.

The little-known factoid was revealed in "The Mystery of a Small Pond," published Tuesday amid great fanfare.

The pope's private secretary, Monsignor Georg Gaenswein, the heads of the Vatican Museums and Vatican publishing house, the author, and the caretaker of the pontifical villa spoke at the launch.

Gaenswein says the book reveals the "mystery" of Benedict, "who we all know is a great theologian with a powerful mind, but who has a very, very sensitive soul."

Colorado students accused of sickening class with pot-laced brownies

BOULDER, Colo (Reuters) - Two University of Colorado at Boulder students are accused of bringing marijuana-laced brownies to a college class, sickening their unsuspecting professor and five classmates, police said on Sunday.

Thomas Cunningham, 21, and Mary Essa, 19, were arrested Saturday on suspicion of second-degree assault, fraudulently inducing the consumption of a controlled substance and conspiracy charges, university police spokesman Ryan Huff said.

Huff said three of those who ate the brownies were hospitalized, suffering from the effects of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the active property in marijuana.

"If someone views this as a prank, it's no laughing matter," Huff told Reuters. "These (charges) are all felonies which carry potential prison time."

According to Huff, police were summoned to a classroom building Friday morning on a report that a female professor was complaining of dizziness and was drifting in and out of consciousness. The instructor, who was not identified, was transported to a hospital.

Later Friday, the mother of a student in the class notified police that her daughter also was hospitalized after suffering "an anxiety attack."

The family of a third student also notified police that their daughter felt like she was going to black out after attending the class, and that they took her to a hospital.

All three have since been released from the hospital.

Huff said the students brought the brownies to class as part of a "bring food to class" day, and those who ate the brownies were unaware that they were laced with pot. Five students and the instructor fell ill after eating the brownies, police said.

[Related: Wash. state bar owner tells pot smokers to light up]

Investigators questioned the instructor and 11 of the 12 students who attended the class and determined that Cunningham and Essa baked the brownies and served them to the unsuspecting class, Huff said. Both remain in the Boulder County jail pending a bond hearing.

Last month, Colorado voters approved the recreational use and possession of small amounts of marijuana.

In response to the legalization vote, University of Colorado president Bruce Benson sent a message to college alumni last week, saying that marijuana remains illegal under federal law, and its use on the university's campuses could jeopardize research grant money.

"Marijuana threatens to cost the university nearly a billion dollars annually in federal revenue, money we can ill afford to lose," Benson said.
