Can-C Eye Drops Preventing Cataract Eye Surgery

?

During their lifetime most people will suffer from a fear of a medical procedure. There are different forms of this fear and not everyone experiences every part. These fears are often overlooked however if a patient experiences one to the extreme it can be harmful to their health.

Certain operations evoke more fear in some patients such as in aged persons who require cataract eye surgery. These patients often fear the procedure and fear the thought of going blind.

More than 25% of patients are afraid of becoming blind as a result of surgery and 34% fear the operation will be a failure.

Now there is an alternative to surgery known as N-acetylcarnosine (NAC) a natural and potent antioxidant is an important finding because for the first it is able to offer a successful alternative to cataract surgery in the form of Can-c eye drops.

Within one months of Can-c use has shown demonstrable effects on cataracts.

How Does Can-C Work?

NAC is based on carnosine, this is a naturally occurring nutrient di-peptide (a blend of 2 amino acids or fragments of protein). NAC is an important ingredient in can-c eye drops due to its ability to clear up free radicals. Free radicals are the root cause of increased ageing in the body as well as tissue damage. Free radicals are also the main reason for cataracts.

Can-c eye drops for cataracts are also able to tackle glycation which is a bodily process also known as cross-linking.

Can-c treatment for glaucoma

There is evidence that Can-c eyedrops can help lessen intra ocular pressure that is linked with glaucoma.

Glaucoma is a condition that concerns the optic nerve. This is the large nerve that carries electrical signals from the brain to the retina. The optic nerve is as a result vital for the vision, without it we would not be able to see. Those suffering from glaucoma will have a damaged optic nerve and their vision is also increasingly affected.? If this is not treated then total blindness will eventually result. When someone is suffering from glaucoma the optic nerve damage that happens usually results in higher than normal intraocular pressure. Although this is incurable it can however be managed by glaucoma eyedrop use that can effectively reduce intraocular pressure.

Inside the eye. the schlemm canal which resides inside the eye performs as a valve passing water products out and into the blood and also performs as a pressure valve in its own right as well. In time the canal becomes blocked by cross-linked proteins which are subsequently known as glycated end products which are impaired materials that need to be removed.

Can-c eye drops assist in preventing the formation of cross linking proteins and also helps in disposing them. As a result it helps alleviate glaucoma. It is thought that Can-c helps to literally unclog the schlemm canal.

Looking To Buy A SUV? | Auto Finance Toronto

For only about everyone, cars have been the prerequisite nowadays. Someone who lives in the bustling city, especially, only cannot do but the car. It isn?t only easy to buy the automobile though. Go out as good as take the demeanour during the small of the cars available: you?ll be dumbfounded by their variety.

Irrespective of the income you?re peaceful to outlay as good as your choices, you?ll find which there have been the series of cars out there. There have been Hatchbacks, Sedans, SUVs as good as upon the aloft end, oppulance cars as good as sports cars too! All of these have been targeted during opposite segments of the market.

For example, the hatchbacks have been directed during those family groups ? or people ? who possibly similar to to own the tiny car, have been upon the singular bill or do not need the vast automobile only yet. Sedans cater, for the many part, to the marketplace only upon top of which of hatchbacks. Sedans have been glorious if we wish the automobile for prolonged drives, the gentle as good as protected pushing experience.

SUVs have been the most appropriate cars, in my opinion. With an SUV, we get all which we wish as good as more: there is space, there is quality, there is reserve as good as all else the single could ask for. There have been the small vast name players in the SUVs market: While Audi, BMW as good as Mercedes offer the aloft finish of the SUV markets, Toyota, Honda, Ford as good as the likes server the center segment.

Toyota, especially, is well known for it?s quality. Toyota has the vast line of cars ? they support to only about each shred which exists. You can find Toyota hatchbacks, Toyota sedans as good as even Toyota hybrid vehicles from the company. These have been often directed during the lower-middle shred of the market.

Toyota embodies all the facilities of the good car. When you?re selling for your initial car, in all likelihood, we have small to no thought of what to demeanour for. You?d rest upon recommendations from your friends as good as families, the small investigate from the Internet. Even if we were to buy the Toyota Hybrid Cars as good as SUVs but any of these, we can rest positive which zero you?ll buy which you?ll bewail after on.

Don?t get me wrong: I?m not receiving the potshot during alternative cars in the market. Many of them have been excellent. For example, Honda has the small of the improved cars out there. On the aloft end, as I said, BMW, Mercedes as good as Audi order the roost. No the single has the picturesque possibility of anticipating the automobile improved than these, for their price.

SAN DIEGO, March 23, 2012 More than a dozen symposia and other events at the American Chemical Society (ACS) 243rd National Meeting & Exposition are being sponsored or recommended by noted science communicator and ACS President Bassam Z. Shakhashiri, Ph.D. They range from a science outreach event for children at PETCO Park to news from an emerging field of chemistry that promises to produce medicines inside patients' bodies, as well as a symposium on communicating science to the public.

Communicating science is a major part of Shakhashiri's presidential theme for the year. The William T. Evjue Distinguished Chair for the Wisconsin Idea at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Shakhashiri is noted internationally for pioneering the use of demonstrations in the teaching of chemistry in classrooms, as well as to the public in museums, convention centers, shopping malls and retirement homes and at his Science is Fun website. The Encyclopedia Britannica termed Shakhashiri the "dean of lecture demonstrators in America."

Shakhashiri said the symposia connect with the grand challenges that face society and scientists in the 21st century, challenges that range from helping to sustain Earth and its people in the face of population growth and climate change to finite resources, malnutrition and spreading disease.

A schedule of the sessions appears at the end of this press release, and individual topics can be accessed online.

Among the speakers in the plenary session, which is among Shakhashiri's recommendations:

Derek Fisher signs with Oklahoma City Thunder

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) ? After winning five NBA titles with the Los Angeles Lakers, Derek Fisher chose the West-leading Oklahoma City Thunder as the team where he wants to go for No. 6.

Fisher signed with the Thunder for the remainder of the season on Wednesday, not quite a week after he was traded to Houston by the Lakers and subsequently bought out of his contract instead of playing with the Rockets.

He picked jersey No. 37, the same as his age, and hoped to play right away and perhaps be able to maintain his streak of consecutive games played.

More importantly, he wants to continue his run of postseason success.

"Right now, they sit on top of the Western Conference and I'm just hopeful that the things that I do, the things that I've always brought to every team I've ever played on, can be the right mix to help these guys continue to do whatever it is that they're already doing," Fisher said before the game.

The Thunder lost their backup point guard, Eric Maynor, to a season-ending knee injury in January but hadn't made any moves to address the position. All-Star Russell Westbrook had been taking on extra minutes as the starter, with rookie Reggie Jackson taking over as his backup.

Then Fisher became available when the Lakers decided to acquire Ramon Sessions from Cleveland and promote Steve Blake to the starter. Fisher had won five titles alongside Kobe Bryant in two separate stints with the Lakers, with stops in Utah and Golden State in between.

He had played 13 of his 16 NBA seasons with Los Angeles before getting dealt away at last week's trade deadline.

"I think that I was surprised by it, but since then I've very much realized that it's not so much about what went wrong and why it happened but more so where I'm going next and the next chapter of my life," Fisher said, declining to speak in depth about his divorce with the team until later.

Fisher figures to take over Jackson's backup minutes, although coach Scott Brooks called the 2011 first-round draft pick one of the Thunder's "important pieces going forward." Fisher has averaged 8.7 points and 3.1 assists during his career and has played in 209 playoff games in 13 trips to the postseason.

"He has winner all over his DNA," Brooks said. "You can never have enough winners in your locker room, and we have a locker room full of them. He just gives us one more winner."

Fisher played with the Lakers when they knocked Oklahoma City out in the first round of the 2010 playoffs on their way to a second straight championship. He said he's always respected the team because he's observed that the players play with energy every single game.

That approach was reinforced when he met with general manager Sam Presti while he was going through the process of clearing waivers and becoming a free agent.

"It's very clear that there's one common goal, and that's to maximize the abilities of every player on the team and try to bring, at some point, a championship to Oklahoma City," Fisher said.

Oklahoma City made room for Fisher by waiving forward Ryan Reid, a second-round pick in 2010 who had played in only five games over the past season and a half.

"He's got great poise, he's got a great basketball IQ, great recognition on both ends of the floor," Presti said of Fisher. "He understands the league, he's a well-regarded corner shooter and someone that we feel like can settle you down and make plays for you throughout the body of the game."

Presti praised Jackson and reserve Royal Ivey for filling Maynor's minutes over the past two months well enough to give Oklahoma City the league's third-best record, behind Miami and Chicago, heading into Wednesday night's game against the Los Angeles Clippers.

"We have a lot of confidence in the group that we have in place, obviously, to be where we are right now," Presti said. "We know we can improve. ... We feel like Derek's someone that can help enhance where we are currently."

Two-time scoring champion Kevin Durant endorsed Fisher's arrival even before he had officially signed and envisioned him as a mentor to the young team who's still able to hit clutch shots and defend. He was hesitant to look forward and assess Fisher's impact on the Thunder's championship hopes.

"You can ask as many questions as you want, but it's a little different if you go through it yourself," Durant said. "I'm just going to just try to pick his brain as much as I can about the game of basketball but at the same time, of course if I want to get to that goal, I'll have to experience it myself."

'Breaking Dawn - Part 2' Trailer: Five Things We Want To See

Now that we've seen the 10-second teaser, here's our wish list for the trailer, in 'Twilight' Tuesday.
By Kara Warner

All right, "Twilight" fans: Now that we've had our curiosity piqued and our hearts made all aflutter via the release of the brand-new "Breaking Dawn - Part 2" trailer sneak peek, it's time to take a break from re-watching it 20 more times and think about what didn't make the 10-second spot that we hope we see in the full-length trailer debuting in front of "The Hunger Games" later this week.

This week's "Twilight" Tuesday is dedicated to our "Breaking Dawn - Part 2" trailer wish list, featuring thoughtful commentary from one of our favorite experts, Kallie Mathews, webmistress of TwilightSeriesTheories.com.

Arm Wrestling and Other Bella-as-a-Vampire Scenes
So Bella is a vampire now. Hopefully that doesn't surprise anyone at this point, since everyone who saw "Breaking Dawn - Part 1" got a little sneak peek of those freaky-colored eyes of hers. As such, we should see a whole new side of Bella in this movie, my favorite scene being the one between her and Emmett and their arm wrestling. "I am 'hoping' to see some vampire action in the full trailer," Mathews said. "There are some great training scenes from the book I hope they include, as well as some great cottage scenes with Bella and Edward! I 'expect' to see lots of Bella as a vampire, and I'm OK with that!"

A Lee Pace Sighting
I've mentioned my enthusiasm for the new castmembers before, particularly my affection for Lee Pace, but it is worth repeating until more people appreciate him. Pace, whom you might recognize from his excellent work on the short-lived TV series "Pushing Daisies" or Tarsem's "The Fall," plays American nomadic vamp Garrett in "Breaking Dawn - Part 2," and although he isn't one of the major players in the film, his character still has a nice arc and I'm dying to see more of him.

Mackenzie Foy as Renesmee Cullen
Remember when Edward and Bella had a baby? Of course you do; how can anyone forget that graphic scene? Anyway, baby Renesmee grows up really fast in the second film, and she's being played by beautiful young actress Mackenzie Foy, who has already told us a few adorable things about working with Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner. I would very much like to see her in action in the trailer.

A Shirtless Pattinson or Lautner
I'm sure there is a highbrow, intellectual approach to take here, but instead, I'm going to channel my inner-teenage girl and hope that we get to see some shirtlessness from Pattinson and Lautner. Trailers are all about enticing audiences to come see the movie, so why not serve up some gratuitous shots of the film's very handsome men for the very dedicated fans? "I have a feeling we will see tight close-ups of the Cullens, a shirtless werewolf and lots of trees," Mathews predicted. "Plus, you know there will be some great one-liners!"

Appropriately Angsty Background Music
In addition to the fanfare that surrounds the film's stars and the actual movie itself, there is plenty of enthusiasm for the various "Twilight" soundtracks that have been released over the years, so much so that certain bands have been rediscovered by making the cut. I'd like to hear either a familiar favorite, like Sleeping at Last's "Turning Page," or a brand-new and soon-to-be hit song over which we can swoon for a few months.

What would you like to see in the new trailer? Let us know in the comments below, or tweet me @karawarner!

The New Faces of Feminism | Natural Parents Network

March 8th, 2012 | 4 Comments

Suffragist Florence Jaffray "Daisy" Harriman (1870-1967) holding a banner with the words "Failure Is Impossible. Susan B. Anthony. Votes for Women." Part of the George Grantham Bain Collection in the Library of Congress. (Source: Flickr Commons project, 2009)

Feminism and the US women?s liberation movement, as we know it, began in the mid-19th Century. One might say it began in Seneca Falls, NY on July 19-20, 1948 when the world?s first women?s rights convention was held and an agenda for the movement was set. Or, perhaps, it really began when the first sparks of desire for a different life alighted within a girl (or a woman) and she eventually found that she was not alone.

The official timeline for women?s liberation is filled with laws, amendments, protests, and firsts of many kinds. It is also filled with many amazing, courageous women. Women that began as daughters, raised in a home that either encouraged that spark of hope and desire or tried to stifle it, only to make it grow brighter. The work that women have done in women?s liberation thus far has made fast progress when we consider the centuries of human history as a whole. Our daughters today have a world of opportunity only accessible in the imaginations and dreams of those first women liberators.

In modern day America, the landscape of women?s rights give rise to the questions: should a girl grow up to work, or should she grow up and stay at home with children? Should she try ? as so many of us do now ? to do both?

Many of you may agree that quite suddenly in our history of women?s lib, after the rush to get women into the workplace, we have come to the point in recent years where it has nearly become unconventional to not work. Dare I say, a new face of Feminism has become choosing to stay at home. And now, as staying at home has become a movement of its own, it has given rise to many other new faces of Feminism, all of which (as I see it) have a common thread: reclaiming and preserving motherhood. We can see this and participate in movements such as Lactivism, Intactivism, and vaccination education.

Concurrent to women?s liberation, another sort of movement began ? an ideology referred to by historian Rima D. Apple as ?scientific motherhood.? She defines it as ?the insistence that women require expert scientific and medical advice to raise their children healthfully.? Toward the end of the 19th century and continuing through our present time, natural parenting as it was known ? following the examples of generations of mothers within the family and a mother?s own intuition ? was gradually abolished.

In the beginning, advertisements and other publications encouraged mothers to educate themselves and ?to be actively involved in decision making about the health of their families.? However, as scientific motherhood progressed through the twentieth century, mothers were told they were to not only learn from the experts about the health of their child, but to follow the directions of the experts. Advertisements, journal articles and books all moved from informing mothers of health and wellness to outright devaluing their intuition and the advice of their mothers. As industrialization, modern technology, and a convenience-driven economy made head-way in the twentieth century, so too did the ?experts?? advice.

While Apple?s article does not cover the relationship between women?s liberation and scientific motherhood, I think the correlation is easily made. Historian Molly Ladd-Taylor writes in her article ?When the Birds Have Flown the Nest, the Mother-Work May Still Go On? about the role of the National Mother?s Congress (later known as the Parent-Teacher Association) through the twentieth century. The National Mothers? Congress was very involved in parent education of the science of child development and frequently began programs asserting this agenda and passed out publications for it. Their grassroots movements began from a traditional point of view, where women belonged at home with children, and thus, intended to ?professionalize motherhood by bringing science and education into child rearing.? Ladd-Taylor asserts that they simply wanted women to be more content to stay at home. The National Mothers? Congress later progressed into a more liberal role with an active stance in women?s right to work outside the home.

I bring in this bit of information, however, to illustrate how Feminism became an unintentional player in the devaluing of motherhood. After all, our fight for liberation was to broaden our freedom and to prove our capability beyond the realm of motherhood, not to crush motherhood. It was to give ourselves a choice. Now, over a century and a half into both movements, as women have moved into the workplace and have struggled with the balance of work and home life, we have lost the link to a mother?s traditional knowledge of how to be a mother. Our separation from the traditional home life coupled with the need for guidance somewhere has left a large portion of mothers to become solely reliant upon the medical experts and, sadly, upon the manufacturing companies and their advertisers who sell the products we rely on to make working outside of the home possible.

I am not asserting that we have made the wrong decision in women?s liberation. I am not asserting that any woman is making a wrong decision in working outside the home. I chose to stay at home, but next year when my family moves to a new state and my husband begins his doctorate program, I will join the millions of mothers who work.

I am calling us, however, to continue with these new faces of Feminism. I am calling to all mothers ? staying at home, working at home, or working outside of home ? to reclaim motherhood. We had the incredible power to shift the traditions of centuries within 150 years of active protest and work. We harness the power to reclaim and preserve the maternal instinct that exists within all of us. The instinct that knows when medical advice may work and when it?s just not right for our children. The instinct that can find a balance between expert knowledge and trusting ourselves.

Choose to continue Feminism. Give our daughters and granddaughters a true choice of motherhood. Find an aspect (one of the many practices of traditional, natural parenting) that is important to you, educate yourself, learn about a movement if one exists, and connect with others that share your feelings. Reclaim your mothering instinct through these practices: trust it and follow it!
